Games and Software Available for the Upcoming Sony NGP

The NGP has become a coveted item for gamers worldwide, thanks to the superior specs it boasts. However, those having any doubts about getting Sony's latest portable device can breathe a sigh of relief when they hear of the game titles announced for the NGP, also called PSP2 NGP by fans.

Right off the bat, one of the biggest names to make its way into the NGP's 5-inch OLED screen is the wildly popular Call of Duty franchise, with creator Activision promising a version of the first-person shooter for the NGP. To make things more exciting, demos of two popular franchises - Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid 4- were shown on the NGP, illustrating the superb capabilities of the device. Although a title for the NGP has been confirmed for the former, nothing yet has been revealed regarding the latter.

Other third-party releases for the NGP include RPG titles from Capcom such as the popular Monster Hunter Portable 3D, Dynasty Warriors, Lost Planet, Yakuza 4 and Dungeon Defenders. Other confirmed releases include Hot Shots Golf Next and Wipeout iterations. If you're looking for Sony's own titles, however, you'll be glad to hear of official announcements for NGP versions of Killzone, Resistance a LittleBigPlanet game, all of which are just a fraction of what's yet to come after the actual release.

The NGP be using a touchscreen-based user interface known as LiveArea, switching from the XRossMediaBar interface. The main LiveArea will feature PlayStation Store, games and browser icons, among others. Each game will also carry its very own LiveArea which looks like a collection of bubbles and shows game updates and trophies.

Another interesting feature of the NGP is Near, which will allow you to view what people are playing around you. If you're interested in what they're playing, you can purchase it with just a screen tap. Near will also show the places you've been to, although you can easily turn it off if you have privacy concerns.
