Hapus / Disable Menu Recent Document

Jika Anda tidak ingin orang lain mengetahui file-file apa saja yang baru saja kita buka, maka Anda harus menghapus Recent Document yang ada di Menu Start. Salah satu caranya adalah sebagai berikut :

1. Buka Notepad.
2. Ketikkan : echo y| del C:\windows\recent\*.*
3. Simpan file pada sembarang folder, beri nama (misalnya) norecentdoc.bat. Ingat, ekstensi harus bat.
4. Buat shortcut file tersebut pada dekstop.
5. Klik kanan shortcut tersebut, pilih Properties.
6. Pindah ke tab Program.
7. Pada bagian Run, pilih Minimized.
8. Beri tanda check pada Close on Exit.
9. Klik OK.

Nah sekarang Anda bisa menghapus Recent Document dengan cepat, yaitu dengan mengklik shortcut yang telah Anda buat pada desktop.

Anda juga dapat menghilangkan Recent Document dengan cara men-disablenya. Berikut langkah-langkah untuk mendisable Menu Recent Document :

1. Klik menu Start - Run
2. Ketik "regedit" (tanpa tanda petik)
3. Klik menu HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Microsoft - Windows - CurrentVersion - Polices - Explorer
4. Pada halaman sebelah kanan Menu Explorer, klik kanan - New - DWORD Value
5. Akan muncul di paling bawah "New Value #1"
6. Klik kanan di "New Value #1" kemudian rename
7. Ganti filename dengan nama "NoRecentDocsMenu" (tanpa tanda petik)
8. Bila sudah Double klik "NoRecentDocsMenu" isikan Value data yang tadinya "0" (nol) menjadi "1" (satu)
9. Setelah itu tutup Registry Editor tadi dan Restart Komputer anda, maka Menu "My Recent Documents" anda akan hilang dari Start Menu.

Hati-hati Komputer Anda Terinfeksi Virus Conficker

Seperti virus penyakit, virus komputer juga menyebar dengan cepat dari satu komputer ke komputer lain. Wabah yang tengah mengancam jutaan komputer di seluruh dunia sekarang adalah serangan yang disebut conficker.

Program berbahaya ini telah menginfeksi 6 juta-9 juta komputer di seluruh dunia hanya dalam waktu 2 minggu. Kawasan yang terkena serangan paling tinggi adalah Asia dan Amerika Latin.

Berdasarkan data Symantec, China dan Argentina merupakan negara yang paling parah terkena serangan jenis worm ini. Conficker baru menyebar sekitar dua bulan lalu, tetapi telah menimbulkan kepanikan yang begitu masif. Hampir 29 persen komputer di China terinfeksi conficker. Sementara Argentina telah mencapai 11 persen. Selain itu, serangan ini juga cepat menyebar di Brasil dan Rusia.

Para pengamat keamanan komputer saat ini masih meraba-raba apa yang akan dilakukan pembuat conficker setelah menginfeksi jutaan komputer di seluruh dunia. Yang pasti, komputer yang terinfeksi dapat diambil alih pembuat virus dari jarak jauh layaknya zombie. Jutaan komputer tersebut bakal menjadi jaringan botnet terbesar di dunia yang rawan dimanfaatkan untuk melakukan tindakan kriminal, seperti pencurian data rahasia atau bahkan rekening bank. Dalam beberapa kasus, komputer yang terserang akan mengalami gangguan koneksi setiap kali terhubung ke internet.

Conficker yang juga disebut Downandup atau Kido menyerang dengan cara memanfaatkan celah kelemahan pada fitur Windows Service yang telah ditambal Microsoft bulan Oktober lalu. Namun, beberapa laporan mengatakan, virus tersebut tidak mati meski patch telah dipasang. Conficker menginfeksi dengan cara menebak password admin di jaringan atau melalui USB flash.

Jadi, hati-hati terhadap serangan ini dan lebih waspada setiap kali melakukan tukar-menukar file. Update antivirus mutlak untuk mengantisipasi kemungkinan serangan.

Cara Mengatasi Virus Conficker :
Disini saya menggunakan PCMAV Express (untuk software-nya bisa download disini)


1. Pastikan user Anda memiliki hak setara Administrator.
2. Non-aktifkan antivirus yang terinstall agar tidak mengganggu PCMAV Express.
3. Pastikan sebelumnya bahwa komputer Anda tidak terkoneksi ke jaringan atau internet selama proses scan.
4. Setelah selesai, sangat disarankan untuk melakukan restart dan scan ulang (jika perlu).
5. Setelah virus berhasil dituntaskan, segera update/patch Windows Anda. PCMAV Express ini pun dapat mendeteksi apabila komputer Anda belum di patch.
6. Pastikan seluruh PC yang telah terhubung di dalam jaringan juga telah bebas Conficker.
7. Pastikan password hak Administrator di PC Anda tidak mudah ditebak, karena Conficker memiliki kemampuan menyusup dengan melakukan “tebakan” terhadap password Administrator dengan kosa-kata umum yang ada dalam kamusnya.
8. Jika langkah 3-7 di atas tidak Anda ikuti dengan baik, maka besar kemungkinan Conficker dapat menyerang kembali, sebagus apapun antivirus yang Anda gunakan.

Kenapa engine ini tidak disertakan dalam PCMAV 2.0? Hal ini dikarenakan begitu kompleksnya penanganan virus Conficker terutama teknologi rootkit-nya. Selain itu engine PCMAV 2.0 yang telah ada tidak dirancang dan disiapkan untuk menangani virus jenis baru semacam ini.

Tips-tips Memilih Hardware untuk Merakit Komputer

Power Supply:
Upayakan menggunakan power supply yg baik (pure power). Jgn tergiur oleh besarnya wattage yg ditawarkan. Ingat: harga tdk pernah bohong! Kalau ada yg menjual casing berikut power supplynya seharga 400 rb dgn iming² PSU nya 450 W (misalnya), lupakan saja. PSU jenis ini cuma di tulisan saja yg 450 W, power sebenarnya bisa dapat 250 W saja anda sudah beruntung. Kecuali hendak merakit komputer low-end dgn mobo VGA OB dan tidak banyak komponen tambahan, jgn pernah menggunakan power supply murahan bawaan casing.

Komputer bukan seperti mainan mobil²an unt anak. Kalau mainan, batereinya drop paling² jalannya jadi pelan dan lampunya redup. Begitu diganti baterei baru, jalan normal lagi. Komponen komputer tdk spt itu, kalau tegangan atau daya kurang maka dia akan rusak permanen. PSU yg jelek berpotensi merusak komponen lain. Jgn pertaruhkan uang jutaan yg sdh kita keluarkan unt beli CPU menguap begitu saja krn kita berhemat bbrp ratus ribu unt membeli PSU yg bagus.

Prosesor:
Apabila dana terbatas, spek prosesor boleh diturunkan kelasnya (kecuali unt kebutuhan pengunaan yg memang perlu prosesor yg canggih). Komponen ini yg paling gampang di upgrade. Dan kalau kita mengerti sedikit ttg teknis komputer, tdk terlalu sulit unt memacu (overclock) prosesor agar kinerjanya setara dgn prosesor dgn spek di atasnya (yg lbh mahal tentunya). Kelak kalau dirasa kinerja prosesor sdh tdk memadai unt kebutuhan kita, cukup beli prosesor baru yg lbh canggih dan jual prosesor bekasnya. Syaratnya asal mobonya mendukung saja.

Motherboard:
Yg paling sulit justru menentukan pilihan motherboard. Komponen ini boleh dikatakan tdk bisa diupgrade, krn mengganti motherboard biasanya diikuti dgn mengganti prosesor pula. Kalau sudah begini mendingan jual komputer yg lama, beli yg baru. Tips dlm memilih mobo, belilah mobo dgn chipset keluaran terbaru sesuai kemampuan finansial kita. Chipset terbaru biasanya sdh mendukung prosesor generasi yang akan datang beserta fitur²nya. 2 thn lagi, misalnya, komputer kita sdh kedodoran menangani berbagai aplikasi baru, kita tinggal ganti prosesornya saja dgn generasi yg lbh muda. Bacalah thread Papan Bunda unt tahu lbh jauh soal mobo.

Memory:
Unt saat ini, kapasitas RAM 1 GB adalah syarat minimal unt menjalankan berbagai aplikasi dgn nyaman. Alangkah baiknya bila kita pasang RAM 2 GB di sistem kita. Hal yg perlu diperhatikan adalah spek mobonya, apakah sdh mendukung fitur dual channel (hampir semua mobo keluaran baru sdh mendukung dual channel, kecuali type tertentu). Dng mobo yg support dual channel, dianjurkan unt memakai 2 keping RAM yg identik. Jadi kalau mau pasang memory 1 G belilah 2 keping @ 512 MB dgn merk yg sama (dan kalau bisa batch number yg sama). Memang 2 keping @ 512 MB sedikit lbh mahal dibanding 1 keping @ 1 G, tapi layak dibayarkan krn kinerja memory jadi lebih cepat.

Optical Drive & Hard Disk:
Belilah Optical Drive sesuai kebutuhan. Kalau memang membutuhkan unt menulis data di DVD, maka mau tak mau hrs memakai DVD-RW. Tapi kalau data cukup ditulis di CD, maka DVD combo adalah pilihan yg paling bijak. Apa pun kondisinya, DVD drive sdh menjadi keharusan dewasa ini. Sebagian besar installer aplikasi² baru sdh menggunakan format DVD, bukan CD lagi.

Koneksi unt Optical Drive dan Harddisk sebaiknya menggunakan yg Serial ATA (SATA). Bbrp mobo keluaran terbaru sdh jarang yg memiliki port IDE/Paralel ATA secara native. Memang biasanya msh tersedia port IDE, tapi itu ditangani oleh satu chipset khusus yg akan merubahnya menjadi SATA. Kadang² deteksinya lbh lambat, sekalipun bisa berfungsi normal.

Mengubah Tampilan Windows Dengan TrueTransparency

Saat ini ada banyak sekali software yang dapat digunakan untuk mengganti tampilan Windows, misalnya dengan transformation pack yang pernah di tulis di sini, WindowBlinds, Talisman, dan sebagainya. Salah satu “kelemahan” dari transformation pack adalah seringkali membuat Windows kurang stabil alias sering hang.
